Artist Statement:

As an artist and magician I find photography and video to be very magical mediums for expressing ideas. Utilizing digital tools and photographic techniques allows for the manipulation and distortion of time and space. Therefore, I find that feelings, emotions, and ideas can be expressed in a visually captivating way. I strive to bring out the invisible world in visual ways.

In college I began studying the Surrealist movement and discovered early experimental films made by Maya Deren, Jean Cocteau, and Luis Buñuel. I was inspired by the unique way these artists used the medium of film to convey thoughts and emotions.

With my background as a magician, I often strive to incorporate many of the principles of magic into each film I make. Sometimes it might involve a piece of magic apparatus while other times it might involve an editing or camera technique that creates something magical.
